Before you get started
When Windows Internet Explorer 7 is not installed successfully, an icon is added to your desktop. This icon is not a shortcut to Internet Explorer 7. Instead, it is a shortcut to this Microsoft Knowledge Base article about how to troubleshoot Internet Explorer 7 installation problems. If Internet Explorer 7 is not installed, you can review the information in this article to help you troubleshoot the setup problem.
To determine whether Internet Explorer 7 is installed, click Help, and then click About Internet Explorer. The About Internet Explorer dialog box displays the version number of Internet Explorer that is currently installed on your computer. If Internet Explorer 7 is successfully installed, and you no longer need this troubleshooting information, you may want to remove this shortcut from your desktop.
To remove the shortcut to this article from your desktop, right-click the shortcut and then click Delete.
To visit your home page now without restarting Internet Explorer, press ALT+HOME.
To automatically open your home page when you start Internet Explorer, use the Internet Explorer icon on the Start menu, or use the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, you can drag the Internet Explorer icon from the Start menu to your desktop.
